Latex: Absolute mainstream, the default choice
- Features: Excellent elasticity, high fit, complete protection, lowest price (1–5 yuan each);
- Drawbacks: slight latex smell, a few people are allergic to latex (itchy, red, and swollen after contact);
- Contraindications: Do not touch oily lubricants—oil can damage the latex structure, causing visible damage within seconds;
- Suitable for: The default choice for the vast majority of people without an allergy history.
Polyurethane (PU): The cost of ultra-thin and thermal conductivity lies in choosing the right size
. - Features: Thickness can reach 0.01–0.03mm (latex physical limit about 0.04mm), fast heat conduction, no latex smell, suitable for latex allergy users;
- Shortcomings: elasticity only a fraction of latex, more selective about size—loose and prone to slipping, tight and prone to breakage; The price is 3–8 times that of latex;
- Suitable for: Those allergic to latex, those seeking an ultra-thin experience with the right size. This is also why 001 products widely use PU (see our previous article comparing 001/002/003).
Lambskin: Natural taste but has a fatal flaw
.- Features: Made from natural intestinal membrane, with heat conduction and feel closest to "condom-free," no allergy issues;
- Fatal flaw: The membrane has micropores that block sperm but not viruses—it only prevents contraception and does not prevent sexually transmitted diseases (HIV, HPV, etc.). The most expensive (20–50 yuan each);
- Suitable for: Only for stable partners, for both partners with clear medical examinations, for contraceptive goals, and for those seeking natural touch. Do not choose non-fixed partnerships.

- General population: latex, don't spend too much;
- Latex allergy: PU or polyisoprene (synthetic latex, elastic between the two);
- Pursue ultra-thinness: Make sure the size fits before applying PU, and try small packages first;
- Stable partner seeking naturalness: sheep intestinal membrane is optional, but be sure to clearly define its protective boundaries.
Two general taboos
: 1. For any material, only use lubricants other than oil-based lubricants (PU, like latex, is sensitive to oil);
2. Sheep intestinal membrane is not a "higher-grade latex"; it is a different type of product with different protection logic. Don't buy it based on thickness logic.
In short: default is latex, choose PU for allergies, sheep intestinal membrane only prevents pregnancy, not disease—choosing the right material makes thickness meaningful.
